All Cycles!
A fun way to get my students' creativity flowing is by giving them a quick write. I give a random story starter and a set time frame. From there, they could edit their work.
Examples:
Dog's Point of View (What is it like in the life of a dog)
Review of a television show or character
Your Favourites... (food, colour, artist...)
Discuss a song or video
Switching Personas (being someone else)
Dreams
"Ouch! That Hurt"
The perfect world
I usually give my students between 5 and 10 minutes. Give younger students more time and older students less time. Allow students who tend to struggle use a computer to type their work. It will limit stressors.
