Integrating Technology in the Classroom
In today's society, it is extremely important to incorporate technology in the classroom. It should not be included aimlessly; it should be relevant and interactive. I’ve used websites with my class, such as Go Noodle and Starfall, which my students love.
iPads are beneficial in a classroom setting because they are interactive and mobile. They could be used individually or with peers. Moreover, they are easy to use and it is simple to share work through Airplay or Airdrop. iPads allow students to be creative, improve their literacy, and is great for inclusion. The App Store also gives you access to over 65, 000 apps both free and paid.
Book Creator - Allows you to make an e-book for free! Students have complete creative control of their page. After every page is complete, you can airdrop them to make the book. Below is an example entitled "Hello Fall".
Hooked on Phonics - Available in both paid and free versions. This app allows students to learn to read with fun stories. As the student moves forward, he or she will win trophies.
Khan Academy - Allows you to learn any math concept for free! This app gives you access to tons of videos and exercises.
The Smart Board is an interactve white board that is multi-purpose. You can use it to brainstorm ideas, play games, watch videos, and so much more. When students have questions, you could explore the ideas as a class using the Smart Board. Unlike a regular white board, you could save the page or print it out to distribute to the class.
Websites for the Classroom:
Go Noodle - A variety of fun videos to get your class moving. This website includes relaxation videos, mainstream dance songs, and catchy songs with movement. Your account has a fun monster to represent the classroom and it grows as you move to more videos.
Starfall - Starfall helps students learn to read with catchy songs and interactive games. This website is good for individual use and to use as a class on the SmartBoard.
YouTube - After students learn a new concept, it is always good to show a video for visual learners.
Jump Start - This website teaches students to read, but it also has a math component. It is a branch of the original CD- ROM learning tool, which is still a great tool for the classroom. Students will play games to learn new concepts and ideas. They will be having so much fun, they won't even know they are learning.

Français Facile/Tex's French Grammar- These websites provide students with grammar activities in French to help improve all concepts, such as verbs and adjectives.

Raz-Kids - This website helps students read as well as work on reading comprehension in English, French, and Spanish. Students have a personal account and are able to work at the appropriate reading level. The teacher can track progress and struggles on their roster.
“Sometimes the questions are complicated
and the answers are simple.
